How much gravel do I need?
Multiply length × width × depth. In feet and inches, divide cubic feet by 27 for cubic yards. Suppliers sell by the yard or the ton, so the calculator shows both, using a typical weight for each material.
Typical depths
- Gravel path: 2–3 in (5–7 cm) on a compacted base
- Gravel driveway: 4–6 in (10–15 cm) in layers
- Mulch on beds: 2–3 in (5–7 cm)
- Topsoil for a new lawn: 4–6 in (10–15 cm)
